Something about Muscal Wizard

My name is Joachim Mielke, and I come from the area around Flensburg, a town in Northern Germany. I was born in 1959 and play piano (keyboards), drums and guitar.
In 1966 I started a classical piano education, drums and guitar I taught to play myself autodidactically.
My first experiences with a band was in the 70th. This band consisted of only 2 members playing piano, guitar and vocals, and its name was "Kassiopeia".

One of the most formative experiences I had was in Northern Germany with a band called "Streetlife", a band who was playing dance music. About 1984 the keyboarder had left this band and so I could fill this position. On only 2 weekends we rehearsed the whole repertoire of about 60 songs.

And only one week later we had our first performance in a hotel where a company’s Christmas party took place, and they wanted to have a quiet background music during the banquet first. Well, we had never rehearsed this before, but we did it in a way that would be called "unplugged" today. And to our great surprise we got the nicest compliment from the hotel for the best background music they had ever heard. I think I will never forget this performance in my life.
We stayed together for many years, and we had countless gigs at e.g. weddings, Christmas parties, New Year's Eve, birthday parties, etc.

Later I moved to Aschaffenburg. There I met a band that played Rhythm 'n' Blues. During this time, I took keyboard lessons again at a rock music school. We called ourselves "Cadillac Bar Band" and played cover versions from the Beatles, Moody Blues, Rolling Stones, Santana to ZZ-TOP. With 2 educated singers (Eric Ducard from Boston, and Ralf Nohl), a bassist from England (Bob Poole) and a fantastic drummer (Wolfgang Demel) we rocked the scene very successfully.
(CBB, I miss you!)

In 1994 I've left Aschaffenburg and moved to Brackenheim because of my love. There I started with a smaller band called "Wishing Well", and after a change of line-up and addition (now 2 guitarists) we changed our name to "Satisfactory". With this cover band we practiced for weeks on singing in 4 voices, which was especially useful in the song "Carry on Wayward Son" from "Kansas" or “Take it easy” from "The Eagles" - perhaps the best performances we had achieved so far.
With this band had probably the most beautiful gig: Three friends celebrated their birthday parties together on a farm, the so-called "Schusterhof" near Widdern, a party where everything was just right - the atmosphere, the location (outside in the country!), and of course - the music.

In 2003 I changed the band again and became a member of the newly founded cover band "Electric Animals" from Heilbronn. The two outstanding concerts with this band. On the one hand at the castle "Liebenstein" near Neckarwestheim, and on the other hand on the occasion of the “Weindorf” in Heilbronn at the market place. But personal differences caused me to leave the band after 2 years.

Besides sporadic gigs with the old band "Satisfactory" my active time ended in 2012. Since then I concentrate on my own productions in my small music studio at home. There I especially refined my drumming skills to be able to play and record these parts myself.
